BIGHORN OUTDOOR ADVENTURE SHOW

ANTLER/HORN COMPETITION

 

CONDITIONS FOR ENTRY

 

  1.  Completely fill out your entry tag/disclaimer/claim ticket.  Indicate all categories that apply, i.e. Archery, Muzzleloader, Junior Hunters (16 or younger at the time of harvest and not over 19 at the time of entry).
  2. Keep the numbered portion at the bottom of the tag as your claim ticket.  After 3 p.m. on Sunday, you claim ticket becomes a courtesy pass to the Bighorn Show.  After 5 p.m. Sunday, you will be able to claim your trophy.
  3. NO ENTRY MAY BE REMOVED FROM THE BIGHORN SHOW PRIOR TO 5 PM. SUNDAY.
  4. The Bighorn Show Competition Committee reserves the right to refuse any UNPRESERVED trophies.
  5. Once an entry has taken first place within its species (regardless of division), it is ineligible for future competitions, but may be entered as DISPLAY ONLY.

 

JUDGING AND AWARDS

 

  1. All species of North American Big Game recognized by the Boone and Crockett Club are eligible for awards (see their website at www.boone-crockett.org).  Rugs are NOT eligible.  Rules, regulations and guidelines of the Boone and Crockett Club will apply to the Bighorn Show.
    Judging will be divided into two (2) divisions
    1. Current Harvest: All trophies taken during the hunting season immediately prior to the Bighorn Show.
    2. Prior Harvest: All trophies taken during any other hunting season.
  2. Winners must have harvested the animal in FAIR CHASE.  FAIR CHASE, as defined by the Boone and Crockett Club, is the ethical, sportsmanlike, and lawful pursuit and taking of any free-ranging wild, native North American big game animal in a manner that does not give the hunter an improper advantage over such animals.
  3. Commercially-raised animals are not eligible.
  4. If an error is made and detected prior to the Awards Ceremony, it will be corrected. However, if it is detected after the Awards Ceremony, we regretfully apologize for the error, but cannot change the outcome.  Every effort will be made to ensure that no errors are made in measuring, recording, or determination of winners.

TO ENTER TROPHIES

 

Enter the Fairgrounds at the South Entrance.  Continue down road and through Yellow Gate.  Bring your trophies through the door at the southwest corner of Bay 3.  Trophies are not allowed to be brought in through the Main Entrance.

 

Trophies may be entered from Wednesday through Friday March 19-21 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.  All trophies will be measured by Boone & Crockett or Pope & Young judges or qualified measurers. First place in each species will receive a custom-made belt buckle.
